![]() ![]() The zombies simply aren't spawning in sufficient numbers which checking your stats both with and without the softener active will show (if true the numbers with and without softener should be close). Because of this, grinders that use lava blade softening typically use some kind of gated accumulation area before kill chamber.īy comparison, a 23-block drop instantly delivers a near dead mob that will take no further damage until you finish it, guaranteeing xp. If you press button again when fire goes out, you kill any un-punched mobs - again no xp.Īnd of course zombies that drop in after lava blade are going to be full health mixed with near dead ones. So if you start punching as mobs start burning, you lose out on 2/3 of potential xp. If you hit a mob in first 10 seconds of burn, 5 seconds will elapse before mob dies and you get no xp. To drop xp, mob needs to die within 5 seconds of being hit by player. Contact with lava deals 4hp damage and adds 300 ticks (15 seconds) worth of burning for a total of 19hp. Do you press button and start punching the burning mobs or wait for fire to go out? Once fire goes out, do you keep punching till all mobs die or press button again? Or do you use sword sweeps?Ī quick math: zombie got 20hp. This strikes me as being low my current nearest zombie spawner doesn't use any "softening" and produces better than that (and at approximately what a xp/drop convertable model with a 22 drop does).įrom data, even assuming maximum time between spawn (40 seconds) and half the possible zombies fail (only 2 of 4, on average, generate successfully) that is still 180 zombies/hr at assuming a well lit area and otherwise empty mob caps.ĭescribe exactly how you do it. If you're getting roughly the right amount of experience for the kills credited, then it's not the server set-up. (Without knowing the difficulty mode or the regional difficulty at the time, adjusting for equipment is essentially guesswork.) As a guestimate, this would represent ~55-58 successful player kills.Ĭonfirming the number of zombie kills with which you are credited (by checking your stats before and after a session for both zombies and zombie villagers) would provide a check on what should be expected. Using the average figure (328) this represents 65.5 zombies (without adjusting for chuckies, chicken jockies, or spawned equipment).ĥ% of zombies are chuckies and 5% of those are chicken jockies which give 12 and 22! xp each. ![]() Otherwise Lowest possible gain is 247 Highest is 409 linear average is 328.)īy comparison, 328 Xp would be enough to go from zero to ~ 1/ 2 way through level 15. (Assuming one starts and ends just at the bottom of each level this is 318 XP. Something to consider is that the demo builds are often tested under optimized conditions (void world etc.) so some decrease may be expected.įrom level22 to level 27 represents quite a bit of experience gained. "Source of death" is the only thing the game takes into account to award XP to get any experience the death must count as a player kill (the usual standard is that the mob must have recieved some player inflicted damage with 5 seconds of its death). I'm just not getting as much experience as I believe I should be, I mean I should be at least getting more than 5 levels in 30 minutes. The only thing I can think of that's wrong is because I'm using a Spigot server, and maybe there's something in a configuration file that affects XP? I already tried changing the XP grouping option off and it didn't change anything really. So I was wondering, does for some reason the fall 23 block method give you more XP than the mob softener? I don't think the game takes into account the method of death to calculate XP. Even after a ton of zombies were grouped up and the audio was glitchy because there were so many lol. Yesterday I waited for probably 30 minutes, and went from level 23 only to level 27. I've watched a lot of videos online, and everyone who makes the grinder using the "fall 23-24 block method" always shows them waiting like 10 minutes then getting a TON of XP. (also just to note my ma圎ntit圜ramming gamerule is set to 10,000 so it's not that theres too many) My problem is that for some reason I'm not getting much XP at all when I kill the zombies. ![]() The zombies spawn just fine, and there are lots of them. Just for reference, I'm using the mob softener found in this short video: I made the spawning room with the water leading them to the room where you kill them. ![]()
